Deep Striking

Deep striking is a special ability of certain unit production buildings that allows you to instantly deploy your constructed units to any location on the battlefield that you can see through the fog of war. When units that can deep strike are built at a building that allows them to deep strike, they are stored inside the building instead of deploying immediately. The player can then choose exactly when and where to deploy them, bringing out the units anywhere on the map that he can see with only a short delay. The Orbital Relay uses drop pods that will also knock back any nearby units from the deployment zone, giving your newly arrived troops a bit of breathing room.

Any units that can deep strike from a building can also be manually loaded back into that building (by selecting the unit and right clicking on the building) to deep strike back out again. This allows the player to deploy the unit inside their own base, reinforce the unit, add heavy weapon upgrades, or even attach commanders before loading the unit back into the structure to deep strike into the field fully prepared. There is typically a short delay to charge up a unit for deep striking after it has re-entered a building.

Not all races are able to deep strike.
