Haemonculus

"The sweet sound of suffering!"

Deploying out of the Kabal Fortress, the Haemonculi are the master torturers of the Dark Eldar race. Viewing the mortification of the flesh as the finest of arts, the Haemonculus inflicts high morale damage against the enemy unfortunate enough to fall under his blades. In addition, the Haemonculus's keen eye detects infiltrated units, making him a vital addition to a commander's war effort.

Tactics

Especially useful in against races like Tau with early infiltrators, the Haemonculus is a good addition to any army considering his morale damage and abilities. Watch out though: despite low requisition costs, he takes a lot of power for an early unit. Early game, attach him to a Warrior Squad because his low health will get him killed if he is on his own.

The ranged weapon on the Haemonculus does a large amount of morale damage for when he appears in the game, however, his biggest advantages are his abilities:

Using the Torture Amp in the middle of a chase will slow enemies down so the blades of melee units can make mincemeat out of the opposition. Try using the great speed of a Warrior Squad with Haemonculus attached to overtake enemies fleeing from Mandrake Squads, Wych Squads, or Warp Beast Packs, then place the Torture Amp in front of them. Then watch as the slowed enemies are easily obliterated by your already speedy melee units. If the tide of battle is not in your favor and you need to make a quick getaway, throwing down an Amp before fleeing forces the enemies to either stop and shoot the Amp while you escape, or be slowed by the Amp while they chase, allowing a very easy getaway. It can also be placed in the middle of your forces when facing groups of melee or short-ranged infantry. Hidden among your troops, it will be almost impossible to target and destroy while it provides a huge advantage for the troops surrounding it.

His Stinger, available after a research at the Wych-Cult Arena, does a lot of damage to an enemy unit and causes disruption among enemy firing lines. Try shooting one at a Space Marine Squad or Chaos Space Marine Squad with Heavy Bolters; the Stinger usually kills the weakest member carrying a Heavy Bolter, and then disrupts all the others in the squad so they cannot continue firing.

The Soul Destruction ability is also useful for making sure your enemy is not shooting (and thus killing) your close ranged units. In ranged warfare, using this ability after causing a few casualties can win you an engagement by damaging and disrupting all the enemies near unharvested souls. It also helps in melee combat against tough melee units like Berzerkers and Nobz to gain some breathing room if your melee troops become overwhelmed.
